About us

Bwami coffee is an organic, specialty, fairtrade, sustainably grown coffee in rural Uganda at 2 plantation sites in Ssekanyonyi, Mityana District and Kijjukira, Bukuya Sub-county, Kasanda District. Bwami coffee predominantly works with local women to earn a decent living.

Bwami Coffee aims to become a Centre of Excellence for coffee and agroforestry farming, focusing on coffee,  tree regeneration and ultimately growing a local, sustainable conservation-based economy.

Sustainability is at the core of what we do at Bwami Coffee. We’re a sustainable coffee growing organisation that exists with the sole purpose of creating opportunities for our people and improving their lives in the process.  We aim to grow coffee in a very sustainable way, using sustainable value and supply chains in all our coffee value processes.

Bwami coffee is a people-centred farming enterprise with a focus on improving the lives of our people and staff. Coffee is more than just a product to us. Coffee is a livelihood and a future to hundreds of our local people. At Bwami, coffee is our sole focus. Our purpose is to create opportunities that improve lives.

INVESTING IN OUR STAFF

Without our employees who till the coffee gardens, who dry our coffee on our coffee drying stands, who pulp our red coffee beans, who pick our coffee, who irrigate our coffee,  there would be no coffee, no Bwami Coffee, and no income to improve and support our local communities. From Marvin Ssenditta our production director, to Mr Manirakiza our Plantation Supervisor to Mr Kalon Kyome our Client Services Manager, Mr Aaron Mpagi our Europe Markets Manager,  to all the staff who pick our coffee-We thank you! We are setting up a farming system that focuses on a couple of objectives, which address key sustainability challenges: build capacity to improve the lives of our people; increase traceability in our supply chains; and grow responsibly sourced coffee by training our employees.

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT

At Bwami Coffee, we’re deeply committed to environmental sustainability and protection of the environment in everything that we do. We practice environmental regeneration as best as we can at our coffee farms.  We aim to ensure a cleaner environment: conserve water resources;

Bwami Coffee is a family business. Coffee is our tradition. Our grand fathers grew coffee albeit on a smaller scale. Our founders were educated with school fees derived from coffee. Coffee is our livelihood, it is embedded in our DNA. We love coffee and coffee loves us back. Bwami is  family farming enterprise with a strong entrepreneurial culture and an eye for value which has led us to enter the tertiary coffee processing value chain with our Bwami Roasted coffee brand. We are coffee farmers first and will always produce the best Robusta coffee that money can buy.
